Business brains: five tips for success by Jennifer Hawkins

Business Model
They say to be a great model you need to be a chameleon. And while they were probably referring to how one looks in front of the camera, Jennifer Hawkins has shown us that being a chameleon away from the camera is even more of an asset. Hawkins manages businesses, brands, ambassadorships and side projects (home renovating, anyone?) with seeming ease and aplomb. Here, Hawkins shares her tips for success in any field.

Enjoy what you do and it won’t feel like work
“When it’s my own brand, it’s been like an extension of my personality and or lifestyle. Therefore I really enjoy it. It can be really hard work sometimes because it’s constant, it’s a grind, you’re working with a team and it’s not glamourous. You’re in constant correspondence… being the boss but being a nice person, it’s really hard. But I guess that’s thrilling, I find it really interesting and there’s something new every day.”

Schedule your time well
“There are set days when you’re endorsing a brand, and then away from that, there is Jbronze all the time… We do fortnightly WIPs so you get with the team and then in between it’s correspondence. I find that works really well.”

If you have an idea, why not?
“If you’re passionate and you’ve got the drive then give it a go, like, why not? There are endless possibilities and don’t listen to the people that say ‘that’s already out there, you can’t do that’. Everyone’s always going to say that because they probably don’t want to see you succeed. So just go do it anyway.”
